Schoolbooks

We started school about six weeks ago. The idea was that we would be done with our books by May. In May, we are hoping to travel back to Illinois to our church denominations presbytery. And, anyway, I always find that school books get rather old by May.

Lil' Cowboy is doing basic learning skills. Over the year that he has been here we have learned that he knows nothing. Nothing about time, money, the value of things, sequencing, etc. So, it is back to the drawing board with him. Crayons, scissors, and glue sticks are the tools of the day for him.

Math-U-See is new for us this year. I am just sad that I didn't look at this earlier. It is so easy and quick to use. The girls are loving it.

For the Geography through Missions I am reading the Youth with a Mission Young Adult Mission books. Then, we are forming a booklet with maps on all the major continents and countries that these books take place in.

Our timeline is based on Mystery of History. But, because books 3-5 have not been completed we have decided to go ahead and complete the timeline using Homeschool in the Woods timeline figures.

Goose is in his third year of High school. He has to be very diligent this year since he is working one day with Eric, a half a day on a friend's yard, and one day on another friend's ranch.

Phew! That is a lot of correcting and keeping up on studies. With at least one kid gone four out of five days of the week I find my head spinning. But, thanks to my handy schedule I am better able to see what has been accomplished and what still needs to be done by the end of the week.

Oh for the days of circle time and reading time and....the list goes on. Life seemed so hectic then but little did I realize that life was going to get even crazier. I see it all slowing down in about fifteen to twenty years from now.

As a friend once told me "when you are exhausted at the end of the day, remember that it is a good exhaustion." It means that good things were done for the glory of God.
