You Can't Keep A Good Man Down

Eric has been going stir crazy. We have tried to keep him quite comfortable in his new recliner/rocker but he can only sit for so long. He said that his range of motion, his fine motor skills, and his equalibrium have all progressively gotten better over the past couple of days. He was kind of worried this past weekend when he not only felt weak but had a hard time writing anything. But, all in all we are amazed at how well the body bounces back from such a dramatic ailment.
What is even more amazing is how well we spiritually bounce back from such dramatic ailments. I have tried to continually assess my emotions on the whole ordeal and I come up with nothing more than a deep abiding peace in God's sovereign will. It is rather hard to explain. I am humbled by the experience and I can trust that I have grown an abundance over the past couple of weeks. I do feel a need to not worry about the little things in life that tend to bog us down and overwhelm our daily existance but who wouldn't feel this way when you face the split second of life on earth changing forever.
I can't say that I was complacent in life before these events happened but sometimes I looked at the daily grind of serving our family and others as another "thing" on the list to do. Sometimes I get tired just thinking of all the things that our family does but perhaps I need to think more about time on this earth as being short and the need to accomplish all that God has for us as much more important than sleep or entertainment (whew! what a sentence!).
As we were in the hospital I worked on a plan to keep my husband from working until January. Instead he is not even a week out of the hospital and he is back at work albeit at a much slower pace. All in all, I wonder, does Eric have the right attitude? Maybe priorities are the key...live life to its fullest just make sure that what fills your life are the right things.
On a side note, we feel very fortunate to have all of our medical bills taken care of by the Veteran's Administration. They won't pay for the prescriptions that the hospital asked us to get and they won't pay for the two week follow up Doctor visits or the Doctor visit to our family physician next week but what an incredible blessing to have all of the ER and ICU bills taken care of.
As far as Eric's work we have quite a few families that are willing to help scrub pools with Eric and our kids over the next couple of weeks. We also have a church friend who is willing to drive Eric around to his store visits for his rep job. We continue to be blessed by friends and family as they provide food and gifts for the season. We are truly overwhelmed by the graciousness of our surrounding community of believers. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts...you have given us a renewed vision of how we can help others in their time of need.
