A couple of nights ago I snuck little Brown Sugar into my bed because she was still awake. Most nights I cry myself to sleep and this night was no exception. As I was crying Brown Sugar wiped my tears away while saying "It's okay".
I told her that I was very sad because I wish daddy was still here with us. She asked (mind you, she is only 2 1/2 years old) "Daddy sick?". I said "No, daddy is no longer sick. He is in heaven with Jesus."
She said "I love daddy. I love Jesus." And then she started singing Jesus Loves Me, hand motions and all.
Even though I don't understand why Brown Sugar has to grow up without her daddy I understand that Jesus will be her daddy and will keep her heart.

I keep sitting here trying to think of something to write to offer comfort but you know better than I where you can find it... Your Brown Sugar is sweet and she is blessed to have a mother as wonderful and devoted as you. Praying for all of you, kristi
Dear Heather,
You are in my prayers often these days. I really don't know you personally, but I can imagine how difficult your days must be right now. May God continue to be your strength.
Diane H.
That is so sweet when they are so small and want to comfort us!
Heather and kids,
Over the past few days, I've been keeping up on your blogging and praying for you throughout the days. I'm calling your pager when I think to do it (even though I'm not sure I'm doing it right), and every time I pray, it keeps getting pressed on my heart to share a song with you. It's by the band "Barlowgirl" and it's called "Never Alone". I know that you are feeling EXTREMELY alone right now and I feel as though God wants you (all of you) to know that even when you can't feel Him, He's there. Here's a link to it on their myspace profile for free.

Children are such a comfort and joy. It is amazing how the Lord uses them, even so young, as a soothing balm for the weary wounded heart.
Continuing in prayer for you all ~
In the love of Christ ~ Diana
That is soooooo sweet! I find it amazing how much faith little kids have.
I know this is so very hard but keep trusting in God, his plan is the perfect one for you and your family. God turns all things into good.
We will keep praying for your family.

Sweet, sweet child. May she bless you all her days.
Praying for you daily...our family prayed for you and the kids during our family worship time tonight. May Christ be the provider of all your needs....Love, Denise H.
Heather, Your blog has touched me so much and this last week and 1/2, I check many times a day to see if you have posted and pray for you. I too pray you will feel God lifting your head and holding you through your pain and sorrow. What a gift from God you have in little Brown Sugar. Cindy
Dear Heather,
Genevieve Smith (New Zealand) connected us to you through her Issacharian Daughters newsletter. We've never met you or your family (tho we live just south of you in Fresno), but you're on our hearts and in our prayers. I can't imagine walking the road you're on right now, but may you find Him faithful as you go.
With our care,
Lori McCracken
Hi Heather,
Just wanted to let you know that I pray for you late at night, through the night, and early in the morning and don't call your pager, since I don't think you would appreciate it much! Keep your little ones with you cuddling as much as you can, they will comfort you lots.
Love,
Jeannie
God has laid a burden on my heart to not only pray for you and your family as a whole, but also you little adopted ones. God has seen fit to protect them thus far in their lives, even when you couldn't, and He will complete His work in them! God has got you in the palm of His hand!
Dear Heather,
I am praying for you and your children. I know God will hold you up.
I went to high school with Eric. He was a really great guy. His faith in Christ was obvious.

Dear Heather and family,
What a blessing children are from our Heavenly Father and what an example of true faith Brown Sugar demonstrated. We are praying for you constantly throughout the day that God will comfort you and give you strength and peace. Here is a verse that my Bible Study Fellowship leader shared with us last week. This verse was given to her when her husband passed away suddenly. The woman who gave it to her pulled up to her house one day, on an exceptionally hard day, and said God told me to give this to you. She passed it on to all of us at Bible Study and I want you to have it. Keep your face looking at Christ and know there are alot of people praying for you.

Isaiah 54:10
"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
Our children can be such a huge blessing to us and especially at 2 1/2!!! I know that God uses them to bless us often, and I just love how those precious words that he gives them just melts my heart. I am glad that you where able to share that blessing too!
Thanks for sharing...
Jennifer
What a blessing that Eric and you were able to bring Brown Sugar and her brother into the states to be apart of your family. I think God did this knowing Eric would be going home soon....so you would have a little one to help you through this with God as well. Hang in there...your strenght is contagious.
Your lil' sis!
I love you........
we're still here praying for you Heather.
Heather,
I'm a complete stranger...but I stumbled across your blog a week or so ago, and have been praying for you ever since. I cannot begin to imagine everything you must be going through, the pain you must be experiencing- the questions that must plague your mind, the times you must wonder what good could possibly come of this...
Anyway...I just wanted to let you know I'm praying for strength for you...
With much love and many prayers,
Brianna
our family (and friends) have been praying for you since my sister and law followed a link that led to your site. We continue to interceed on your behalf. We thank you for sharing your lives. It brings glory to our Lord and Savior. We see how you are clinging to Him and continue to pray for you Heather, in your great loss of best friend/lover/dear husband and for each child in their great loss of father/friend! We sang how firm a foundation last night and thought of you,"When through the deep waters I call thee to go, the rivers of woe shall not thee overflow; For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless, And sactify to thee thy deepest distress. When through fiery trials thy pathways shall lie, My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply; The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design Thy dross to consume, and they gold to refine. Even down to old age all My people shall prove My sovereign, eternal unchageable love; And when hoary hairs shall their temples adorn, Like lambs they still in My Bosom be Born. The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose, I will not, I will not desert to its foes; That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake, I'll never, no never, no never forsake."
"God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you,'" Hebrews 13:5
Heather,
I just wanted to let you know again that I am weeping with you, and continuing to pray for you--so add me to the 95,000, 'cause I haven't called the beeper! ;0)
Love,
Jamie
