Four Months

O-kay, how pitiful is this...I am sitting in a McDs in Hays, Kansas checking my emails when I am overcome with tears. Boo is sitting next to me and she asked if I realized that yesterday marked four months that Eric has been gone. It is so real and yet so unreal. He should be here with us. If he could only be a part of this fun adventure. I miss him soooooo much.
Tomorrow we are on our way to Colorado Springs where we hope to have better internet access. If we do I will post pictures and fill you in on our trip so far.

Heather,
not pitiful at all...it can hit you like a ton of bricks, make you feel hollow inside, and happen any time, anywhere. Thankfully, God is always there ahead of you, waiting for you, ready to comfort you and fill you.

Enjoy that beautiful western Kansas/eastern Colorado scenery ;)

I hope you're feeling a little better. Like the first comment said, it can hit you like a ton of bricks! Just go with the flow and look for the Lord in everything. He promises that He won't ever leave us so He's there in that pain somewhere. He's a great big God, Heather, so I know He's doing something special in your life right now and you are just not able to see clearly through the tears. And you're right, Eric should be there with you. But that's "should" in our vocabulary, not necessarily the Father's. He had a really great reason for calling Eric home when he did, my friend, but being human, we'll never see or understand it. It's so good for you to be with your children on this adventure. Cherish it because it is your new reality. I wish I could take your pain away. Even if for only a little while. The really hard part is missing them so much. I got so "homesick" for Richie. You are a wonderful woman in the Lord and I am privileged to have met you on your blog during all this time. I can't believe it's been 4 months already. I know, they have probably felt like eternity to you. My prayer journal is calling me so I need to get busy. Heather, we've never even met, but I love you so much! Jesus is so good to us bringing us together so we can minister to each other and don't think for an instant that you haven't ministered to me during this time. I have learned so much from you. Your trust, your faith, your convictions! Everything is a ministry to me. Our Father is so "trustable." He will never let us down. We might set goals for Him to meet but He has His own goals and His own timetable. And we must rest in His Sovereign choices. I'm still praying for your safety and health ... for all of you.

Not pitiful at all Heather...I still cry when I realise my dad is not coming back in this life and will not share the rest of my life with me, and he left this world nearly a year ago.

Remembering you still.

Pitiful?, NO. Heartbreaking?, YES.
It just shows how near and dear Eric is to all of your hearts. I am so sorry how the waves of grief come and go, but never pitiful Heather. I admire you for even being on the road and doing all of this right now. Holy Cow, you are brave and adventurous. Eric is with you in spirit, in each and everyone of your hearts. You are doing amazing. Praying for continued safe travel for you and your family. May the blessings and love keep hugging you along the way. This is a journey to remember for all time!!

Love, Laurie in So. Ca.

Oh Heather,
Crying will come and go. Enjoy those tears for they come because of the love you had for Eric ~ your awesome man!

I noticed that on your way out, you stopped in SL and Park City. If you plan to head home the same way, we are just off I-80 (in the same area) and would love for you to stop by. Stretch your legs, have a meal, swim in the lake, ride a horse or just a big hug ~ whatever your time allows and whatever you need. My email is ashley@bigcanyon.org

blessings,
ashley
