A few friends decided to surprise Boo (and the other girls) by redecorating the sewing room. Kind of like an episode of "While You Were Out". When we came home I was looking everywhere for Lis'. She was outside avoiding me (!) all-the-while waiting by the window to the sewing room so that she could watch Boo's face light up when the room was revealed.
The picture above shows how surprised Boo really was.
The room was a joint effort by quite a lot of our friends. They did an incredible job....better than I could have even imagined.
Strange picture but I wanted to show the handiwork of our friends. Don't you just love the old pattern idea on the wall?
Boo is just imagining how much more fabric she can buy to fill up the rest of the cabinet.
I also thought I would share what I have been busy doing. While on the trip I found some incredible online deals on some furniture. It was delivered two days after we got home and a week later I finally have it all cleaned up and finished. Here is the end result...
The quilt on the end of the bed is very special to me. My mother-in-law made it. She is an incredible seamstress and quilter...I love her work and finally was the recipient of this beautiful quilt. It was given to Eric and I for our 20th anniversary which makes it even more special.

On June 24th 1987 Eric and I exchanged vows to love and cherish each other in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer till death do us part. I never thought that I would say good-bye to my best friend and husband so early in life. Twenty-one years later I have fond memories of renewing our vows the year before. I rehearsed a lot of those memories Tuesday. Some of them evoked many tears. My heart ached (as it still does) and yet I knew that there were hundreds of you praying for me. What an incredible blessing to know the sweet knowledge of saints around the world praying for our family.
I bought this chair for my room. A place to just escape from the every day burdens and simply rest. Right now I have my Bible and a John Piper book readily available. I have already "cuddled" Brown Sugar in this chair and prayed for continued strength.
And, my room comes with an incredible view (albeit a view that needs some help!). This is from my sliding glass door looking out onto our backyard. I loved Italy when we traveled there a few years ago and everyone who knows me will tell you that I try to make my little space in this world reflect the beautiful charm of the Napa valley and the many places we visited in Italy. ~Lazyd

Here's a link to a fabric giveaway and a new fabric store for Boo to fill up some of that empty space.

What a great surprise for her.
Your view makes me want to come visit you in CA :) doubt I can talk Shane into it though.

Boo's sewing room looks gorgeous! Such fresh, beautiful colors for her. I'm sure she will be able to fill up those fabric shelves in no time. Your bedroom looks so restful and pretty. You've been busy. Please know that we continue to pray for all of you. We miss you horribly, but I know you needed to go home.
Love you,
Tonya
Hang in there, Heather, things will get better. In the meantime we all continue to pray for you. Your home looks beautiful. A place for every thing and every thing in it's place. That is my problem, I have too many things and not enough places. And I probably wouldn't remember to put them away anyway! I'm such a slob. No, I'm not as bad as I used to be but still a far cry from what I should be but I'm working on it. Big things with small steps.
Tuesday must have been really difficult for you. I'm grateful that our prayers are upholding you. Isn't it wonderful that the Lord allows us to participate in your healing process simply by praying? He certainly doesn't need our help. He's quite capable of doing it Himself. But out of His great love He allows us to be a part of it. We are all so blessed by our Creator! I continue to pray for you every night and sometimes during the day I will feel the summons to pray and I figure you're having a rough moment so I'll stop and pray for you and ask for God to watch over you and keep you; to bless you and to comfort you. By His love, mercy, and grace just keep putting one foot in front of the other. You'll make it, Heather, and someday you'll be able to look back without tears; to remember and not grieve. I know most of the time you think that day will never come, but it will. You'll get there in God's perfect timing, not a moment too soon nor a moment too late, but just when the timing is perfect. When you are at your weakest, God is at His strongest, doing for you what you cannot do for yourself.
In the Father's great love,

Heather - Everything looks beautiful!! I love what you've done with your room and it was fun to see the much talked about sewing room, too!
One day at a time, my friend, one day at a time.
Beautiful! Makes me anxious for our visit as that pool looks very refreshing... :) Where can we place our orders for Boo now that she has such a cool room to work in? Continuing to pray each day and night for you.
Heather, what John Piper book are you reading?
