Be Thou My Vision

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;

Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.

Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,

Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;

I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;

Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;

Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;

Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;

Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:

Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,

Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:

Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,

High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,

May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!

Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,

Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

I feel like I have a direct line to God - my Kinsman-Redeemer. I ask and He delivers right on time. Of course, what I am asking for is strength to make it through the moment at hand. Nothing more and nothing less. "Please Lord don't let me cry right here in the store....help me to wait until I get to the restroom.".

Yesterday I spent quite a long time at the Social Security office filing for death benefits. I had two wonderful friends, Kendra and Lisa (and baby Grace) make the treck with me. While we were waiting for some paper work I found myself overwhelmed with grief and just emotionally too exhausted to even pray. As Lisa put her arm around me and asked me to take a deep breath I exhaled a brief prayer asking for His help. Lisa took up the rest of the prayer. I am not afraid to cry in public but right now if I start crying I am pretty sure that it will turn to sobs.
Sobbing is something I would rather do in private.
After the Social Security office I spent a couple of hours with Lisa's dad who is a financially astute business man. He has offered to help me through the decisions that need to be made regarding the life insurance and the business that we must sell. Once again I can easily get overwhelmed by all this money talk and yet it has to be done. I am incredibly blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful family and friends.
As I collapsed into bed last night (I did finally get about six hours in a row) Be Thou My Vision kept swirling through my head. He must continue to be my vision as I plow through these uncharted waters. I have only one choice: to lean on Him.
Have a blessed Easter celebration!

I continue to pray for you and your children. My father recently went home to be with the Heavenly Father who dad loved deeply. Through my dad's final days I thought and prayed especially for your children. Your faith and trust in the Lord is amazing, your children are blessed to have you as their mother. Love in Christ, Carol

Just know that there are many of us who say it's a privilege to stand with you. I only wish my arms were longer so I could wrap them around you and help you cry. You need to cry so don't cut yourself short on time to do that. In God's great mercy He comforts us through others. Heather, I have been so blessed by your faith and devotion and isn't it wonderful how good God is? And He's always good, even when we can't see the good in something. God bless you and yours and may the Lord bless you profoundly on this holiday that celebrates the life ... the ZOE (life as God has it, God's kind of life) ... everlasting of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.

oh dearest Heather;
we pray for you through these sobs. glory be to GOD for you standing together under His wing of faithfulness and protection. Thank you for continuing on in reverence and trust in our Great God; yes, there is no other WAY, TRUTH and LIFE! What a precious picture of your family singing in worship to the Lord and feeling His peace, mercy and lovingkindness during this time. I wish it would have been eric on the sidewalk, coming in to give you one of those sweet kisses. What a blessing that you were in love; glad you got to share that in the time you had! so thankful to the Lord for the family and friends that stand beside you so faithfully.
