Worship

Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You.

Eric use to remind us regularly that worship was a daily occurrence. It was not solely what we did on Sunday. If we lived our lives one way during the week and then took on a certain piety on Sunday than we were no better than the Pharisees. We were hypocrites. Every day is to be lived to the glory and worship of our Creator.
We corporately praise the One, True Living God on the Lord's day. It is a special day where we learn to be more like Him and then where we have the privilege of fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

I wake up to KLOVE every morning and Shout to the Lord was playing with the words above being the first I heard. There are some songs that make it past their first couple of years of being sung in the church. They become classics and this twentieth century praise song will be one of those classics that will be sung by many generations.
But, sometimes we sing a song and forget the impact of the words. Honestly, music is such a huge part of my life that I rarely sing a praise song that does not impact me to some extent. Even this song that I have sung hundreds of times still makes we weak at the knees.
The thought of mountains bowing down and seas roaring in praise to their Creator just awes me. All of my days I truly want to praise the wonders of His mighty love...I do sing for joy at the works of His hand even when I can't fathom why.
Music is an incredible gift to us as His people. And, words like these are a beautiful reminder of His majesty and our place in His kingdom.
Hum it, sing it, reflect on it...

My Jesus, my Savior
Lord there is none like You
All of my days
I want to praise the wonders of Your mighty love
My comfort, my shelter
Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You

Shout to the Lord all the earth let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name
I sing for joy at the works of Your hand
Forever I'll love You forever I'll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You

Thank you for reminding me of this song...we have been going through (like many) tough times with intense physical pain on my husbands part and financially as well, on the verge of losing our house...but God has been reminding me of His love for me even though I may not see it when I am bogged down with the worries of this life, I am starting to see that His love is all I need….His will is ALL I want!!!!
I am now going to get my Max Lucado 'Opening Windows’ CD out and listen to it as that is the version of the song I heard in my head when I was focusing on the words you posted!

Kelly,
Nothing compares to the promise you have in Him...not a house, a job, or your health.
It is in the moments of utter dependence on Him that we truly and fully can appreciate His kindness toward us. Keep singing!

Heather, thanks for the visible, audible reminder of the Majesty of our God. I love this song, too, and am one in whose life worship music is a *huge* part. It is the wind that blows His lovely fragrance.

I lead worship for Women's Bible Study and read this post the night before and had to include it the next day. It draws people to their feet, still, like few songs can.

Have you discovered Kari Jobe yet?

Check out this playlist: http://www.playlist.com/playlist/15581474827

On my friends blog, she has an interview from Kari that so passionately explains the power of music and worship: http://stepping2heaven.blogspot.com/

Thanks Heather!

hi heather. my friend passed on your blog to me as she believed your honest journey would minister to me as i walk through my own valley of the shadow of death. my brother died right before Christmas. she was right--your words have moved me many days. but today i write to thank you for the lyrics of one of my favorite songs. my five children and i crowded around the computer and belted out the song in praise. it was good. thanks. i have begun to pray for your family as the Lord leads. blessings and joy to you all, kelly fitzpatrick

ps i began a blog just to tell his stories. reading yours has helped me be more transparent.
